General Eiling – Justice League Unlimited
27Feb
General Eiling takes on a few nameless heroes of the Justice League to show them that there are powers equal to theirs. My favorite parts cut from my favorite Justice League Unlimited Episode called “Patriot Act” (S5E07)

the politics were a little to upfront for me
that girl with the staff should be dead.
I agree with you on all except one point. I don’t necessarily think that it is our military that has the problem–not our boys (and girls XD) overseas, anyway. It’s the ones who have desk jobs and either don’t know what real war is all about, or the ones who have forgotten. Everything has become about politics nowadays, and the ones at the top of the military today don’t have 1/3 of the sense of justice those did only ten years ago.
I wish someone like Sir Justin was running our military.
he’s like the hulk
I forget that general’s name, but I still hate him with a vengence. It’s guys like him that make me hate what our world’s millitary has become; people thinking that being more powerful and mercilless to others is the only way to be strong.
I like old school warriors like Shining Knight, guys like him really know how to be REAL heroes
he sounds like batman
is this the result of the titan serum like in the batman arkham asylum? lol
Having him throw down with Superman would get him a Super Beatdown from Superman and maybe the Superman Emergency Squad if Eiling was too much to handle…
And if need be, Krypto the Superdog…
From the World War 2 Golden Age they were the Seven Soliders of Victory and they were awesome!
They weren’t exactly nameless…
They were Star Girl, Vigilante, Shining Knight, Green Arrow, and Arsenal/Red Arrow/Speedy…
Stop! Your making me cry! I miss those too…
wow that whole alternating speech scene with Shining Knight and Eiling is just fantastic one of the hightpoints of the season if you ask me.
Yay!!
You know about the Shaggy Man! You actually read the comics this wonderful show was based on!
Friend!
No, the General isn’t the Hulk of DC, he is a minor villain. I think the closest character to the Hulk would be Solomon Grundy, especially in his latest comic book series. He has several “Grundy Crush!!!” moments and times in which he reverts into his human form and thinks about his situation.
So was that DCs answer to the Hulk? Marvel is much better.
invader zim was the best.
I’ll avoid criticizing some of your own choices in “good cartoons,” but have to say this… Afetr thinking like you for a long time, then actually watching a few things? i came to realize something: It’s not that everything new sucks, it’s that the vast majority of things always suck. It’s always a select few shows of an age that are really worth it, even back in the days when Invader Zim and JLU were new… How many other new shows did you really love? Dexter’s Lab/Powerpuff?
Cartoons nowadays are soo lame, i miss the good old Cartoons like Dex’s Lab, Rugrats, Pokemon, Invader Zim, DBZ, Gundam, JLU, BB, STAS, BTAS, Looney Toons, even Powerpuff Girls.
I love this episode, too. It’s definitely one of my favorites.
stargirl is cool i wish she had more prominent places in episodes
Wrong. Eiling went all monster in around 1998. Although, in the comics, he did use the body of an old JLA villain, the Shaggy Man, instead of some Super-Soldier serum.
And as long as I’m nerding things up, the heroes fighting Eiling in this ep correspond to the original Seven Soldiers of Victory, from the 1940s.
Actually, in the comics, she was Star-Spangled Kid, then Stargirl. Kind of a long story.
Sorry, she’s called Stargirl, not the Star Spangled Kid. Nevertheless …
“why have they made the general a doomsday rip-off?”
To show what the kind of power the League was up against. Besides, since it’s all within the D.C. camp, it’s not exactly a rip off.
“the arthurian cunt superhero is a joke”
As The Shining Knight said, “the creeping moral decay” and as The Star Spangled Kid said, “potty mouth.” How dare you call him a “cunt”? The character’s courage is what defines that episode! Must EVERY character be dark and cynical? THAT’S cliche! THAT’S dominance!
Also Shining Knight has been around for decades as well.
